Statistics Canada released Canadian recreational cannabis sales for the month.

Last 13 Months:

Daily purchase growth MoM increased with +7.3% or $10.3 million/day or annualized $3.8 billion.  First month greater than $10 million/day.

Annual growth per month on YoY basis is $131 million

• Ontario + $68 million
• Alberta + $17 million
• Quebec + $8 million
• BC + $23 million

Month Over Month $’s delta by Province:

Quarterly Trailing 3-month daily sales evidence a +3.6% QoQ.  March 2021 was the lowest on record QoQ growth and a 6-month sequential decline in Trailing Three Month sales. April 2021 figure is the highest in the past four months and reverses a four month downward trend.

Leading provinces by $ growth for the MoM:

BC +$5.4 million…  second highest MoM increase since Dec. 31, 2019.

Ontario +$4.8 million

No other province had a greater than $1 million MoM increase.

Leading provinces by $ contraction for the month:

NB, NS and AB nominal decrease.

Month Over Month % delta by Province:

April 2020 to April 2021 growth was 74%.
